Special Needs Assistant is a course designed to help participants learn about and understand the role and functions of a Special Needs Assistant (SNA).
This course will teach participants to promote maximum independence for children and adult with intellectual disabilities and maintain their safety and dignity while carrying out SNA duties.
To work as an SNA in the healthcare or educational sector all support staff need to have an appropriate qualification. If you wish to work as an SNA, this QQI level 5 qualification is essential.
Existing or potential SNA staff must be aware of the various needs associated with the role of an SNA and must have training in how to support with dressing, feeding and general hygiene practices.
